BRYONIA
Bryonia alba is prepared from a plant White Bryony Wild Hops, of Cucurbitaceae family. Its fresh roots are extracted leaving its poisonous effects and is chopped and then potentized. This medicine acts on mind to treat irritability in children and on the gastrointestinal tract to relieve colic, diarrhoea and worms infestation. Other than this, it acts on urinary bladder to treat bedwetting.
INDICATIONS
- HEADACHE AND MIGRAINE
People with pain in the forehead and back of head with a heaviness in the head and heat along with pain are treated. The pain worsen from motion, eye movement and stooping. It is also indicated for headache with constipation and vomiting.
- VERTIGO
Used when vertigo appears on slightest motion, on rising and stooping. The person feels as though all objects are revolving during vertigo. Heaviness and pain in back of head is felt in many cases.
- RHEUMATIC IRITIS
Inflammation of iris i.e. the coloured ring around the eye’s pupil that follows joint inflammation with pain in back part of eye is easily managed. The pain from eye extend to the back of head, worsen at night and on motion.
- DRY MOUTH AND LIPS
Used for persons having dried mouth which gets better by drinking, with tongue sticking to roof of mouth (palate) from dryness. The lips and tongue are also very dry, rough and cracked with a bad odour from mouth.
- GASTROINTESTINAL (GIT) COMPLAINTS
Constipation, stomach pain and nausea, vomiting are cured. The persons have dry, hard, large stool. It is dark dry as if burnt with excessive strain to pass stool. They get headache due to constipation. It cures stomach pains with cutting, griping, shooting pain in stomach which is felt around the navel region and compels the person to bend double. It is useful in cases of nausea and vomiting. Vomiting appears soon after eating and is bitter or sour to taste & with Hiccough and belching.
- LIVER DISORDERS
It is used to manage enlargement of liver and inflammation of liver with pain that is shooting, stinging, tensive or burning in nature. The pains tends to get worse from touch, on breathing and coughing.
- NECK PAIN, BACKACHE, SCIATICA
Used when there is stiffness marked with pain which increases from motion and from touch. It reduces stiffness in the lower back and is used for back pain which worsen from motion, turning in bed, stooping and standing. Back pain arising from injuries are also can be managed. It is given for sciatica (pain that radiates from lower back through the hips down the leg along the path of the sciatic nerve) also.
- JOINT AND MUSCLE PAIN
Joint pain from gout (high uric acid), arthritis (inflamed joints), injured joints and sprains are treated well. The symptoms are sharp, stitching or tearing type pain in joint along with swelling, redness and heat. Muscle pains and general body aches also are treated with this.
- RESPIRATORY TROUBLES
Cough (dry, spasmodic cough), pneumonia and pleurisy, with tickling in throat are treated which worsens after eating, drinking, from talking and at night. The Patients have pain in head and chest with sensation as if they would burst during coughing.
Pneumonia with cough and difficult breathing and having a tough, hard, yellow or brick dust coloured expectoration are treated. Here, constriction, oppression of chest and heat in chest are also experienced with stitching and stabbing pains in chest. The pain worsens during motion, coughing and from deep breathing.
It is also given for pleurisy with a stitching pain in chest which worsen during cough and breathing.
- TO REDUCE MASTITIS (Inflammation of Breast) in women with Pain.
- FEVER WITH DRY, burning heat and body aches with bitter taste and increased thirst for water. It is also good for typhoid fevers with diarrhoea, dry lips and accumulation of frothy, soap-like saliva in mouth.
DOSAGE
From 30 to 1M potency, repeated, 2-3 daily in 30 potency.
Complementary medicines- Alumina and Rhus Tox.
Antidotes Aconite, Chamomilla and Nux Vomica.
