Gujarat State Pharmacy Council becomes India’s first paperless council.

GSPC

Gujarat State Pharmacy Council (GSPC) is India’s first paperless registration council. GSPC may begin all of its operations and services online, including new registration, renewal services, digilocker services, payment services, and so on. GSPC launched a newly developed web portal, software, digilocker, jobportal, mobile apps, and digitalization of the council in the presence of Shri Rushikesh Patel, Gujarat’s Health Minister, and Senior Hon. Cabinet Minister Shri Jitubhai Vaghani, Gujarat’s Education and Science and Technology Government.

Dr. Montu Patel, president of GSPC, Dr. Navin Seth, VC of Gujarat Technological University, and Dr. CN Patel, principal of Shri Sarvajanik Pharmacy College Mehsana were among those present on this occasion.

Dr. Montu Patel, president of GSPC, stated on the occasion that we are able to construct a paperless council because to our honourable PM Narendra Modiji’s digital India project. It would also be beneficial to all fellow pharmacists from various parts of Gujarat.

Dr. CN Patel and Dr. Navin Seth commended GSPC on their paperless process success.
Dr. Navin Seth went on to say that GSPC has a strict verification mechanism in place to prevent fake registrations. The GSPC team encountered several challenges, yet they persevered and motivated others to do the same. I hope that other councils would support this paperless movement and that pharmacy will be recognised as a fantastic profession.

Dr CN Patel said the paperless consultation could save all pharmacists time. We provide various services such as online payment system, online renewal, and registration. According to PPR 2015 (Pharmacy Practice Regulations2015), all pharmacists are required to take a re-education course to renew their license, and GSPC is about 70 with the help of various pharmacy universities in Gujarat during the lockdown. The re-education course was conducted digitally. GSPC will also begin offering smart cards to pharmacists and will provide pharmacists with an official and unique ID during COVID19. In addition, Gujarat has acquired Sayakha’s API SEZ and Rajkot’s medical device SEZ, and is proceeding with development in this regard. One-third of the world’s medicines are made in India. And one is made from it in Gujarat. Similarly, about 40% of the country’s clinical research share is covered by Gujarat, with Gujarat having a large share of vaccine production. All of this is possible with the help of everyone involved, whether it’s a chemist, a manufacturer or a regulatory agency.

Gujarat Health Minister Shri Rushikesh Patel stated that industrialised nations such as the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada use less paper in their work, and this is truly laudable attempt by GSPC and GSPC President Montu Patel to undertake paperless work by council. It truly appreciates the GSPC employment portal’s efforts in bringing people and employers together on the same platform. The GSPC has suspended the licences of about 2000 pharmacists who work two jobs and increased opportunities for pharmacists.

He further stated that India is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of medicines and Gujarat is one of the leading manufacturers of medicines in India. And Gujarat should continue to work on the younger generation to meet that need. Also, there are many new technologies in this modern age, machines and robots are emerging, and doctors must constantly work on new surgical techniques, just as pharmacists have to learn the latest medical aspects. Yes, the curriculum also needs to change from time to time. Pharmacists work for noble purposes and maintain professionalism. During the second wave of COVID19, we did not have a volunteer pharmacist, but if the need arises, we will also have about 4000 Gujarat volunteer pharmacists during COVID19-related work in the state.

GSPC expressed gratitude to the Gujarat government, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Digilocker team, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in New Delhi, India for giving the necessary resources and advice in order to make digital and paperless work. GSPC is pleased that registered pharmacists may now access their legitimate digital documents (Pharmacist Registration Certificate) via the digilocker site, ensuring the authenticity of the digital document wallet in Digilocker.

This GSPC project will make the registration procedure more accessible, simple, easy, reliant, and convenient for over 78000 registered pharmacists, as well as provide additional information for aspiring pharmacists. For the first time or new registration, pharmacists must visit the council for verification of original papers after making an online appointment, and all subsequent renewal processes, including payment, will be completed online.
